Preliminary Agenda

*Subject to Revision *

Objectives

  • The purpose of the workshop is to engage the climate and weather modeling communities in order to assess the applicability of UASs in support of their work.
  • Continue to develop the groundwork for collaboration between agencies with a focus on applications of UAS on global climate change research.
  • Location:
    • Southwest Events Center
      Hampton Inn Hotel
      Las Vegas

As with the prior workshops we've held, we will be following an interactive format, with active breakout discussion and collaboration work designed to maximize the creative contribution of all participants. Please anticipate a lively and enjoyable workshop.

Breakout group themes and discussion leaders:

  • Climate
    • Cloud Properties - to be combined with either Aerosols or Water Vapor
    • Aerosols, Chemistry, and Trace Gases - David Fahey
    • Water Vapor - Jim Elkins
    • Radiation Fluxes - Betsy Weatherhead
    • Crysophere - Greg McFarquar
    • Carbon Cycle and Greenhouse Gases - Walter Oechel
  • Weather
    • Observing Systems Simulations Experiments (OSSEs) and International Observing System Programs (e.g. Thorpex) - Greg Holland
